Making Blogging a Business | Internet Marketing and Consulting for ...

Making a business out of blogging is one of my goals. Right now I use blogging as part of my business but the blogs aren?t a business by themselves. I?m taking steps to change that and will let you know what I do and how it?s working once I get started. Whether the business works well or not, I will let you know.

In the meantime, some of what I already do for my own blogs and for the blogs of clients is already an important ingredient in any business that includes blogging.

I am talking about how you promote your content.

Your content can be great but if you don?t let people know it?s there and available it?s not going to do much good for them or for you. You want readers to consume your content and enjoy what you?re telling them.? Here are a few ways you can promote your content.

Push your readers into reading your content and then telling others about what you?ve written. You can do this when your content has benefits for the reader. It may be information that they wanted to know about a specific topic. It may be a review of a product that you?ve tried or a book that you?ve read. It may be a how to? content: how to hire a very part time book keeper for your business or how to find time to exercise at home when everything you do is at home. The possible subject matters are enormous. You need to know what your readers want. What problems do they have that you can solve.

As a matter of fact, I like the topic: How to find time to exercise at home, when everything you do is at home. If I do decide to use that topic I?m going to need to test it. I may come up with variations of the topic to find out if it were a very good attention getting topic. If it?s that great, I may well decide to do something more with the topic.

One of the steps I can take with that topic is to have it get some attention. I can get a domain name and write a short report which may include Steps to Take to Exercising and Running Your Business at Home.? The title may be too long but the concept is there.

Then I can tell my friends and family, the people I meet at networking groups, and do some social networking about the site. I can add all the plugins I need to work it for social networking and I can also mention it to other bloggers who may be blogging about doing business at home or just exercising at home and linking their site to mine.

I can also get quotes about the benefits of doing business at home and of exercising at home and include those either within a post or posts or maybe on the side bar.? Once the blog has been up for a time, I can ask for testimonials from readers.

All these steps will give me a good start on letting people know about this new blog site of mine. Then it?s a question of whether I want to use it to promote affiliate products, promote my own products,? or associate it with ADSense and make a few pennies,

In the meantime I received two questions this week about how I get? my content ideas. That?s a good question for me and I?ll explain how I do just that and what changes I plan to incorporate in my search for outstanding content.

Much success in your efforts to make blogging a business.
